My story...

My journey into counselling began in my late 30s while working in a high school, where I became increasingly aware of the growing need for emotional and mental health support for young people.

Seeing the impact this had on children and families was a turning point for me and inspired me to return to education.

I began by studying Levels 2 and 3 in Understanding Mental Health, before continuing on to complete my Counselling Levels 2 and 3, followed by my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

I continue to expand my knowledge through ongoing CPD training and have additional qualifications in Level 2 and 3 Safeguarding, as well as specialist training in Pet Bereavement Support.

I continue to learn across different areas of counselling and wellbeing in order to support a wider range of people and their individual experiences, ensuring the support I offer remains compassionate, informed and person-centred.

Alongside my professional training, I believe my own life experiences help me to offer empathy, understanding and genuine compassion to the people I support.

Experiences such as raising two children into adulthood, navigating grief after losing my grandma and beloved dog, rebuilding my life following a difficult divorce, and learning to start again have all shaped who I am today.

These experiences allow me to connect with clients in a warm, authentic and understanding way, helping them to feel seen, heard and supported.

Throughout my counselling training, I gained over 160 hours of client experience supporting individuals with bereavement, trauma and emotional wellbeing. This included voluntary placement work supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse through RASAC, alongside supporting bereaved clients through my voluntary role with Barnsley Bereavement Support Service.

Following the completion of my placement, I chose to continue volunteering as I feel passionate about continuing to support those affected by trauma and abuse.

I also trained in Reiki after personally experiencing the sense of calm, balance and emotional peace it brought into my own life. I wanted to be able to offer that same sense of relaxation and wellbeing to others who may be struggling emotionally or feeling overwhelmed by life.

Alongside counselling, I also offer wellbeing support sessions because I understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming, isolating or difficult to navigate alone.

My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate and supportive space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and supported through whatever challenges you may be facing.
